I have written and advised on many articles for newspapers and journals. I have worked with many different journals from National Geographic to The Orcadian newspaper. I am also an established author with many academic papers and popular books to my name.
- Stone Age Fiction
Are you working on a Stone Age novel? I can read your text and provide advice on your archaeological setting. I have worked with many novelists, including established authors and novice writers, in order to help provide an authentic setting and accurate background detail.
- Lectures and talks
I have lectured for several universities and I have particular skills in developing e-learning based on web conferencing. I am very keen on this because of the possibility that it offers to develop learning for all. Nevertheless, I am quite at home in the classroom. I am also frequently invited to give evening lectures for groups and societies. This is something that I really enjoy because it takes me to interesting places and I get to meet interesting people.
- Guiding
I have a lot of experience leading people round archaeological sites. It is fun and I get much of my business through word of mouth. I work with specialised tour companies who are looking for archaeological input, and also as a lecturer on cruise ships. I enjoy going out whether with a small group or individual family who want a personal view of some of the best archaeology in the world, or with a bigger group. I can take you to visit the sites of Orkney if you are on holiday here, or I can meet you elsewhere to explore some of the amazing archaeology in Scotland and further afield.
